Houston Endowment Inc.
Established by Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones in 1937, the Houston Endowment, a philanthropic foundation, improves life for the people of greater Houston, defined as Harris County and the contiguous counties of Fort Bend, Galveston, Brazoria, Chambers, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller, through its grants to nonprofit organizations and educational institutions. Approximately $75 million each year is donated by the Houston Endowment foundation donates to organizations that support and promote education, arts and culture, health and human services, as well as the environment. The Houston Endowment is governed by its board of directors and managed by its professional staff. By joining with nonprofit agencies it advances the Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones’ vision of creating a vibrant community where the opportunity to thrive is available to all.
Another humanitarian, although her contributions are on a smaller scale in Australia, who has friends involved with the Houston Endowment Inc. Like the the Houston Endowment, She also promotes and donates money and time to organizations that support and promote education, arts and culture, wild life protection, as well as the environment.
